NCH8200HV辉光管高压升压模块 | Nixie Power Supply

随着越来越多的朋友了解辉光管,不少爱好者们也开始尝试设计自己的辉光钟作品,无论在功能与外形创意上如何千变万化,要想让这种濒临灭绝的古老器件焕发光彩,则必须提供给她170v的工作电压。
当然,升压方案已不是什么难题,无论是众所周知的MC34063A升压方案还是传统的NE555的升压方案,都能轻松的达到目的。不过为了满足更多创意需求,更小的体积更低的输入电压更强的负载能力更高的转换效率成为了大家所追求的目标;这一次,在继NCH6100HV升压模块之后,我又一次把升压电路封装成高压升压模块,只不过这次她体积更小、输入电压更低(可以轻松使用锂电池供电)、负载能力更强并且转换效率更高,她就是NCH820HV辉光管高压升压模块

With more and more friends know the Nixie tube, many enthusiasts have begun to try to design their own Nixie clocks, no matter how the function and apperance changes, if you want to make this endangered old device glow, you need  a high voltage power supply.
Now, the DC-DC boost converter is no longer a problem, whether it’s well-known MC34063A booster or the traditional NE555 booster circuit, all can easily to drive Nixie tubes. But in order to meet more creative requirements, smaller size, lower input voltage, more load capacity and higher efficiency has become the goal we have pursued. This time, after the NCH6100HV boost module, I packaged a new high-voltage DC-DC boost converter again, but this time it’s smaller, lower input voltage (easily to power it with lithium battery), the load capacity is stronger and efficiency is higher, it’s the NCH8200HV Nixie power supply.

NCH8200HV高压升压模块是一款新型的专为辉光管设计的高效率直流至直流变换器,输入电压范围2.5-15v,输出电压170v,特别适合于锂电池供电或者USB供电方式,整个模块体积小巧,转换效率高,发热量低,使用方便,并且脚间距兼容2.54mm孔距的面包板,实物照片:

The NCH8200HV Nixie power supply is a new high-efficiency DC-DC converter designed for Nixie tubes, the input voltage range is 2.5-15v and the output voltage is 170v, it’s especially suitable for lithium battery or USB power supply, it’s compact, high efficiency, low heat, easy to use, and the pin pitch compatible 2.54mm bread board. 再看一下它的驱动能力:(下图为一颗250mAh的锂聚合物电池供电,驱动10颗前苏联产IN-12辉光管,阳极电压170v,阳极电阻20KΩ)

在介绍具体细节参数和性能特点之前,先看一下多角度细节照片:

首先,NCH8200HV在体积上与上一代NCH6100HV有着很明显的差别,他的长度只有18mm宽度17mm,PCB厚度1.0mm,最大厚度5.5mm
由于模块体积很小,所以并未设计固定螺丝孔位,输入输出的4个Pin间距均为标准2.54mm的倍数。

First of all, NCH8200HV has difference size with previous generation NCH6100HV, the length is only 18mm, width 17mm, thickness of PCB is 1.0mm, maximum thickness of component is 5.5mm.
Screw holes are not designed since the PCB size is very small, easy to be fixed, pitch of pins are all compatible with 2.54mm bread board.

如果对尺寸没有什么概念,那么从上图NCH8200HV与常见DIP8的集成电路对比图来看便一目了然。并且和上一代NCH6100HV升压模块放在一起更加直观,PCB面积只有NCH6100HV的1/4不到,厚度也只有NCH6100HV的1/3,这为更小巧纤薄的辉光钟设计带来了可能。
为了降低厚度,能够将NCH8200HV更贴近主控电路板,本次并未采用常见的2.54mm排针,而是采用了直径φ1mm的镀金插针,焊上插针之后也可以方便的使用万能板或者面包板搭建试验电路。

If there’s no sense of size, please check the common DIP8 chip stand by NCH8200HV module, PCB area is only 1/4 of NCH6100HV module, and the thickness is only 1/3 of NCH6100HV, it makes compact and slim Nixie clock design possible.
For reduce the thickness, make NCH8200HV closer to the main board, we use φ1mm gold-plated pins, it can be put on the bread board directly.

NCH8200HV在使用方面非常简单,电源输入端2Pin端子,分别是:
NCH8200HV is very easy to use, power input 2pins:

1. DC IN – 电源正极(输入电压DC2.5V-15V) | Positive power input (voltage DC2.5v-15v);
2. GND – 电源负极 | Ground;

电源输出端2Pin端子,分别是:
Output 2pins:

1. DC OUT – 高压输出正极(输出电压DC170V) | Positive of high voltage output (voltage DC170v);
2. GND – 高压输出负极 | Ground;

值得注意的是,NCH8200HV并不具备防反接保护功能,所以在通电之前,务必确认输入电源的正负极性是否正确。
Note, no input reverse polarity protection is provided, be sure to confirm the positive and negative polarity of the input is correct.

PCB板方面继承了我的设计风格,依然是蓝色PCB基板+沉金工艺,并且使用沉金字符标识了各个重要的名称及参数。
在制作样品之前,依然是采用了3D模型来模拟设计最终的效果,而且最终的实物与3D模型保持高度一致。
批量生产阶段,依然采用拼版+SMT贴片加工方式,确保可靠性。

PCB is also my design style, blue PCB and golden plated, all pin names and parameters marked with gold characters.
Before assembly the prototype, the 3D model is still used to simulate the final effect of design, and I got highly consistent with the 3D model finally.
In mass production stage, full automatic reflow soldering line will keep the module reliability.

下面重点介绍一下性能参数,NCH8200HV虽然体积减小了这么多,但负载能力和转换效率却都很高。
无论是超低电压输入2.5v还是2.8v,或者采用锂电池供电及USB供电,NCH8200HV都可以为辉光钟应用提供高效率的高压电源。

The following highlights the performance parameters, NCH8200HV has small size but the load capacity and efficiency are very high.
Whether it’s ultra-low voltage input 2.5v or 2.8v, or use lithium battery and USB power supply, NCH8200HV can be used for Nixie clock applications to provide high-efficiency high-voltage power supply.

先来看一下技术指标,然后是几组测试照片。实际测试过程中采用的是ITECH(艾德克斯)的数字稳压电源和电子负载,具体型号如下:

也许采用电子负载进行测试不是很直观,我同时也使用了我们比较常见的几款辉光管IN-8,IN-12和IN-18搭建了实际的使用环境进行测试。
测试时,IN-18阳极电阻为6.8KΩ,IN-8与IN-12均采用了20KΩ的阳极电阻。
并且还使用了一颗仅为250mAh的锂聚合物电池作为电源输入进行了带载测试,实测锂聚合物电池输入电压在3.7v-4.2v之间,能轻松驱动6颗IN-18辉光管,6颗IN-8辉光管,以及10颗IN-12辉光管。

Perhaps the test result is fairly straightforward with electronic load, I also use some Nixie tubes for the test, just like IN-8, IN-12 and IN-18.
The anode resister of IN-18 is 6.8KΩ and 20KΩ for IN-8 and IN-12.
I also use a 250mAh lithium battery as a power supply for the load test, voltage of battery between 3.7v to 4.2v, it can easily drive six IN-18 Nixie tubes, or six IN-8 Nixie tubes or ten IN-12 Nixie tubes.
