Omnixie Ultra with R|Z568M | Omnixie Ultra 智能Wifi辉光钟

自从搬进新房以来,一直有计划设计两台大型的辉光钟摆在客厅与茶室。由于Z568M辉光管实在难以寻觅,故选用了捷克的辉光管大师Dalibor的R|Z568M辉光管。

R|Z568M辉光管直径53mm,高度125mm,Omnixie Ultra辉光钟底座长560mm,宽140mm,厚度15mm,所有功能与之前的Omnixie和Omnixie Plus完全一致,包括Wifi自动校时、手机控制、四国语音报时、自动亮度调节等等。底座是采用铝合金CNC一体成型,面版采用3mm岩板水刀切割而成,整体外观无任何螺丝,简洁大气。供电采用USB-C接口,支持PD和QC快充。

目前两台Omnixie Ultra已经组装完毕,摆放在了客厅的条几上和茶室的茶桌上,我们一睹为快:

Finally, I found some time to design and assemble an Omnixie Ultra with Dalibor’s R|Z568M tubes. Aluminum CNC base with new designed power supply, total thickness 15mm, USB-C powered, all direct drive with different anode resistors following R|Z568M instruction, NTP date and time sync, function settings can be performed via mobile phone or laptop. Have been looking forward to having it in my home since I moved into new house.

This time I made two sets, one with a silver base and one with a black base, and I plan to put them in the living room and the tea room, it will be the shining star in my rooms.

Omnixie Plus Smart Wifi Clock | Omnixie Plus 智能Wifi辉光钟

在去年三月发布了Omnixie以后,传统辉光钟的定义已被刷新,它不再是一个只是用辉光管来显示数字的普通单一的钟表,而是具有Wifi自动校时、手机智能控制、音乐铃声、四国语言报时等现代功能的智能时钟,且简单大方的纤薄底座,复古的北美黑胡桃边框搭配高光亮边的铝合金拉丝面板,得到了国内外朋友的一致认可。

After the release of Omnixie in March last year, the definition of the traditional Nixie clock has been refreshed. It’s no longer a simple clock that uses Nixie tubes to display number but has Wifi automatic adjusting, mobile phone control, music tones, four-language talking time and some other modern intelligent clock. It has a simple and generous slim base, the black walnut frame with high-bright edge aluminum brushed top plate, widely obtains the customer of the recognition and praise.

但由于尺寸的限制,18mm直径的辉光管并不能完全彰显辉光钟的可贵气质,所以自从Omnixie作品诞生以后,我一直在准备设计一款基于30mm直径的辉光管的Omnixie,最初的想法是除了管子变大以外,其余的尺寸均根据Omnixie的尺寸等比例放大,虽然很有挑战,但经过一年多的设计和开发,终于实现了这个想法,我给她取名为Omnixie Plus。

However, due to the size limitation, the 18mm diameter Nixie tube does not fully reflect the precious of the Nixie clock. Therefore, since the release of Omnixie, I have been preparing to design an Omnixie based on 30mm diameter Nixie tubes. The original idea is remaining dimensions are scaled according to the size of Omnixie. Although it’s very challenging, after more than a year of design and development, I finally realized this idea, I named  it Omnixie Plus.

Omnixie Smart Wifi Clock | Omnixie 智能Wifi辉光钟

转眼间,距上一个辉光钟作品诞生已时隔近六年,原以为我已经对古朴而又柔美的辉光管进行了完美的诠释,未曾想时隔近六年后,又一次改变了辉光钟的概念,一款完美的智能Wifi辉光钟作品Omnixie诞生

How time flies, six years have past since my last Nixie clock released, I thought I had performed a perfect interpretation of Nixie Tubes, never thought that I redefined it again after six years, a perfect smart Wifi Nixie Clock released today.

现在看来,之前所做过的辉光管时钟作品包括大多数DIYer的辉光钟作品,都仅仅是将电子时钟里的显示器件这个元素替换成了辉光管,而后或多或少的对外观加以修饰,使其Hold的住辉光管古典的气场,除此之外,所谓的跨越时空的古老器件与现代科技的完美结合并不凸显。所以在3年前萌生新的想法时,许久未能赋予她新的定义。Omnixie从2015年初开始动手做第一版设计,这3年时间里经历了5次改版,每一次改版都源于对极致的苛求,对以前所有创作过程中所遇到的问题进行革新,对时下流行的科技进行整合应用,而又始终不离开时钟这个本质!在详细介绍之前,我们先睹为快:

For now though, all Nixie clocks that have been done before include most of DIYer’s Nixie clocks are merely replaced the element of display components with Nixie tubes, and the appearance was modified to make it more classical. The NCH8200HV is also a good choice if you are looking for a smaller high efficiency (86% @ 17mm × 18mm!) power supply.”

译文:如果你需要一款(辉光管)的电源,严泽远的NCH6100HV是个非常好的选择。不过需要注意,不要买市面上的假货。我买过的假货可以提供~200V的电压,但是只能提供8mA的电流,而严泽远的NCH6100HV可以提供40mA电流!如果你正在寻找体积更小、效率更高的辉光管高压电源,NCH8200HV也是一个很好的选择,他可以做到高达86%的转换效率,体积只有17mm x 18mm。

随着越来越多的朋友了解辉光管,不少爱好者们也开始尝试设计自己的辉光钟作品,无论在功能与外形创意上如何千变万化,要想让这种濒临灭绝的古老器件焕发光彩,则必须提供给她170v的工作电压。
当然,升压方案已不是什么难题,无论是众所周知的MC34063A升压方案还是传统的NE555的升压方案,都能轻松的达到目的。不过为了满足更多创意需求,更小的体积更低的输入电压更强的负载能力更高的转换效率成为了大家所追求的目标;这一次,在继NCH6100HV升压模块之后,我又一次把升压电路封装成高压升压模块,只不过这次她体积更小、输入电压更低(可以轻松使用锂电池供电)、负载能力更强并且转换效率更高,她就是NCH820HV辉光管高压升压模块

With more and more friends know the Nixie tube, many enthusiasts have begun to try to design their own Nixie clocks, no matter how the function and apperance changes, if you want to make this endangered old device glow, you need  a high voltage power supply.
Now, the DC-DC boost converter is no longer a problem, whether it’s well-known MC34063A booster or the traditional NE555 booster circuit, all can easily to drive Nixie tubes. But in order to meet more creative requirements, smaller size, lower input voltage, more load capacity and higher efficiency has become the goal we have pursued. This time, after the NCH6100HV boost module, I packaged a new high-voltage DC-DC boost converter again, but this time it’s smaller, lower input voltage (easily to power it with lithium battery), the load capacity is stronger and efficiency is higher, it’s the NCH8200HV Nixie power supply.

新款IV-11荧光电子管时钟 | New IV-11 VFD Tube Clock

5年前,我发布了第一款IV-11荧光电子管时钟作品(原帖链接),记得在当时,国内很少有人知道有IV-11荧光电子管的存在,由于IV-11比当时国产YS18-3荧光电子管尺寸上要大不少,而且搭配了实木底座和亮黑色面板,所以一发布便受到了朋友们的喜爱。2015年李总理访问柴火创客空间时还曾赞赏过这件作品,并且曾在电视新闻栏目里进行过报道。在这5年间,这款IV-11荧光电子管时钟畅销美国、俄罗斯、澳大利亚及欧洲大部分国家(IV-11时钟世界分布图)。
Five years ago, I released my first IV-11 VFD Clock works (link of original post), few Chinese people know about IV-11 VFD tubes at that time, because the size of IV-11 is bigger than YS18-3 (Chinese VFD tubes), and I designed a hardwood base with bright black plates, so it become more and more popular after released. In 2015 during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visiting Chaihuo Maker Space, he praised this work and has been reported in the tv news. In the past five years, this IV-11 VFD tube clock sells well in Europe, North America, South America, Australia (my IV-11 clock world distribution map).

同时,IV-11荧光电子管时钟它不仅仅是一件完成品,我还为热爱DIY的朋友们准备了全套的DIY套件,而且最重要的一点是设计这款时钟所使用的所有电子元器件都是直插零件,无任何贴片元件,这也就意味着大大降低了DIY焊接的难度,DIYer不需要有非常专业的焊接功底,也不需要很专业和特殊的工具即可完成,大家在享受DIY乐趣的同时,也能认识所用到的各种零件,学到很多东西,并且最终还能拥有一台极具古典特色的数码时钟,这也是为什么这件作品能够被大家所喜爱的重要原因。

这里我也先从头简述一下VFD显示技术及IV-11荧光电子管的特点,再简单的介绍一下新款IV-11荧光电子管时钟,最后再详细介绍新版本与上一代作品的不同之处。

Here I will start with a brief introduction of VFD display technology and IV-11 VFD tube characteristics, and then initroduce the new IV-11 VFD tube clock, finally I will detailed the differents of new version and previous version.
